Sugarcane in Skin Care.
Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is derived from sugar cane and is essentially a fruit acid that works as an exfoliant. Because it’s highly acidic but is also highly soluble and has the smallest molecules in the group so is able to penetrate skin deeply and easily, making it the most effective for treating fine lines, acne, blackheads, dullness, oiliness etc. When washed off, it leaves behind smoother skin that is also more youthful looking.
Butylene Glycol
Butylene Glycol is an emollient derived from Sugarcane. It increases penetration of other ingredients and boosts the overall effectiveness of the product. Butylene Glycol acts as a solvent and makes it easier for other ingredients in the formula to mix. It has humectant properties. By drawing moisture to the skin from the surrounding atmosphere, butylene glycol can add needed hydration to skin cells and can even play a role in easing the appearance of wrinkles. Food Grade.
Xanthan Gum
is a polysaccharide, a sugar-based polymer produced by bacteria. It is produced by a process involving fermentation of glucose or sucrose by the Xanthomonas campestris bacterium. It improves texture, gives a pleasant skin feel to the product, offers skin hydration properties. Used as a binder, emulsion stabilizer and skin-conditioning agent.
